I know that you can enter a kind of semi-dream state if you concentrate. I figure that its my intrapersonal communication becoming less coherent as I fall asleep. But, I can tell that Im not in the dream state yet because I can still feel whats going on around me. This may involve hearing a voice speak to you, and could be positive, negative, or neutral. This type of auditory hallucination is particularly associated with schizophrenia, but can occur in affective disorders.
